RB-M What to Expect Information
The RB-M Project, working with the Sponsor’s Representative (Boat Forces, CG-731), has designed the RB-M to be as “turn-key” as possible. However, receiving units must address specific issues to be prepared to receive their new boat.
The following is a list of these issues that will need to be addressed by the receiving unit. For questions about these issues, please contact Mr. David Shepard at the Office of Boat Forces (CG-731) (David.M.Shepard@uscg.mil).
- Shore Tie - RB-M requires 120 VAC, Single Phase, 60HZ power at the pier rated for 100 amps. The RB-M will come with a 50-ft shore tie cable. This cable comes with a Russelstoll Plug p/n JPS1023H. The pier-side female receptacle shall be a Russelstoll receptacle, p/n JRSA1023H, to accept this plug. Units that do not meet the shore power requirements or require a longer shore tie cable should contact Mr. Roy Brown (CG-937) at (202) 475-3113 or Roy.R.Brown@uscg.mil or Mr. David Shepard (CG-731) at (202) 372-2468 or David.M.Shepard@uscg.mil.
- Outfit Item Assembly – The RB-M has an extensive list of outfit that comes with the boat. Click here to download the document. However, this outfit comes directly as ordered from the suppliers and requires assembly to make sure the outfit is ready for use. This includes:
- Stokes Litter – The Stokes litter configuration must be checked in accordance with the COMDTINST M10470.10 (series), CH 3, A.2 and in accordance with the MPC at the Boat Forces website on the CG Web. A link has been provided but may not be accessible unless you have access to CG Web (http://cgweb.comdt.uscg.mil/G-RCB/SurvivalMPCs.htm).
- Skiff Hook – The skiff hook clip is provided but must be mounted to the boat hook.
- PRO Provided Outfit – Some of the outfit items have been changed since contract award, however the contract has yet to catch up to these changes. To provide an interim solution, the PRO will be providing a few items separate from the contract. These will be provided at delivery and include:
- Boat Gunner’s Restraint Tether - The aft gun mount requires a gunner restraint tether that is longer than the standard tether in order to fit around the tow bitt (Ref: COMDT COGARD 292045Z MAR 2007).
- Aft gun mount - Provide four (4) stainless steel two inch bolts for securing gun pintle mount to the tow bitt.
- Unit Provided Outfit – The following outfit is not being provided with RB-M. This outfit can either be cross-decked from an existing platform or purchased new.
- First Responder Kit – There is storage for the First Responder kit on the forward bulkhead of the Survivor’s Compartment. The First Responder Kit is not provided with the RB-M (365-D Urban Rescue Back Pack - https://www585.ssldomain.com/rbfab/item-details).

- Chart Plotter Card – The RB-M includes a new configuration of the standard Scalable Integrated Navigation System (SINS) electronics package. The configuration of SINS is controlled by C2CEN, and you should not need to change any settings other than user preferences such as gain, sea clutter, and rain clutter. Chart cards for your AOR are not furnished with RB-M and must be obtained locally. If you do not already have a card and/or update service, these can be purchased through C-MAP (http://www.c-map.com/index2.html). The SINS provided on RB-M is capable of utilizing the Max Mega Wide cards, which may provide more detail for some AORs. The company POC is Norma Jean Finn, and she may be reached at (800) 424-2627. The company offers a 25% discount to the CG.
